What to Expect from a Reflexology Session in our Wokingham Clinic

If you’re considering reflexology in Wokingham, it’s completely natural to wonder what a session will actually be like. Many people arrive feeling curious but unsure, especially if reflexology is new to them or if they’re seeking support for stress, hormone balance or fertility.
Reflexology is based on the idea that the feet contain thousands of nerve endings, which connect to the brain and nervous system.
When the feet are touched in specific, responsive ways, those signals travel through the nervous system and can help the body shift out of a stress response and into a more relaxed, regulated state.
Reflexology sessions at the Verity Paz Clinic are calm, personalised and designed to support both physical and emotional wellbeing. This post explains what typically happens during a reflexology session, who reflexology can support, and how fertility reflexology fits alongside other forms of care. We also hope to reassure you that reflexology can’t have any negative affects on you. It’s a holistic, natural treatment that can only benefit you in a multitude of ways.
Who Reflexology Is For
Reflexology can support people at many different stages of life and for a wide range of needs. While some people come specifically for fertility reflexology, others seek reflexology for stress management, hormonal balance, emotional overwhelm, sleep difficulties or simply as a way to reconnect with their body.
Many clients arrive feeling tense, overstimulated or stuck in “fight or flight” mode. I often notice clients are speaking quickly, visibly stressed, and sometimes upset, due to how they feel physically or/and emotionally. Reflexology offers a gentle way to support the nervous system, encourage relaxation and create space for the body to rebalance. By the end of the sessions they are calm. It takes minutes to notice their voices become calmer and speech slows and their bodies relax.
You don’t need to have a specific diagnosis to benefit from reflexology. Sessions are always tailored to the individual. Clients come to us from migraines, to hormonal imbalance, to fertility challenges.
What Happens During a Reflexology Session?
A reflexology session usually begins with plenty of time to talk. If it’s your first session we will spend longer asking you questions and getting to know you and your specific needs, and we may go through a form with you. This is an important part of the process and allows us to understand what’s been happening for you physically and emotionally.
You remain fully clothed during the session (just shoes and socks off), and treatment focuses on the feet using gentle, responsive pressure. Reflexology works on the principle that different areas of the feet correspond with systems and organs in the body.
Sessions are never rushed. Pressure is always adapted to comfort levels, and many people find the experience deeply relaxing, some even fall asleep.
Some have expressed their concerns prior about having their feet touched or being ticklish, but they’ve never found this to be an issue. The pressure is never ticklish, and the effects of reflexology relaxes the body so much they just end up relaxing.
Reflexology for Fertility Support
Many people seek fertility reflexology with us here in Wokingham while trying to conceive, preparing for IVF, or navigating fertility treatment. Fertility reflexology focuses on supporting the reproductive and endocrine systems, as well as calming the nervous system, which can become overstimulated during prolonged stress or uncertainty.
Fertility reflexology is not a medical treatment and does not replace medical care. Instead, it is often used alongside NHS or private fertility treatment to support emotional wellbeing, hormone balance and resilience during the fertility journey. However we have had many clients who had come to us prior to IVF, and found a few reflexology sessions have been all their body needed and have fallen pregnant. It depends what your body is looking for and what your individual challenges are. It’s a great place to start. If you only need some changes to you lifestyle and reflexology to get pregnant you can save yourselves so much much and stress on IVF or ICSI. It’s worth a try.
Some clients also combine reflexology with fertility coaching for more holistic support. This is hugely effective and you will see from our reviews how beneficial this often is for our clients. We have included many at the bottom of this post, and you can see all our google reviews here.
How Often Do People Have Reflexology?
There’s no single answer to this. It depends on the individual and what support they’re seeking.
Some people attend reflexology sessions regularly, while others come during particularly stressful periods, such as fertility treatment cycles or times of emotional overwhelm. Sessions can be adapted as needs change, and there’s no pressure to commit to a set schedule. We’ve had some clients have 1 or 2 sessions with us and fallen pregnant. Otherwise have taken longer, and others have used it alongside other treatment to maximise their chances of success.

“I’ve been coming to see Verity now for years and she really is the best reflexologist and fertility coach. Her knowledge is second to none and she is absolutely lovely too. I first came to her for fertility advice and treatment prior to my daughter’s birth, and have been a regular customer even since for general wellbeing and more recently perimenopause support. I look forward to my monthly sessions so much and always step away feeling calmer and rebalanced.” Christine Heath
“Quite simply, neither of my children would be here without Verity.
I started seeing her after my cycles didn’t return when I came off the pill and was trying to conceive. GPs told my husband and me that both our results were fine, but Verity’s specific fertility expertise meant that she could tell us that actually our results were actually quite far from ideal. That’s when we got to work. Reflexology balanced my hormones and actually helped my periods return. She suspected an issue with my husband’s sperm and referred him to the best urologist in the UK who confirmed her suspicions and prescribed medication to fix it. This along with Verity’s advice around lifestyle changes, her ability to listen, be empathetic but at the same time pragmatic meant that we were able to overcome our challenges and conceive our baby girl within 10 months – her middle name is Verity.
When we decided to try for our second I needed to stop breastfeeding as for me it was acting as a contraceptive! I was struggling to stop because my breasts would be so full and uncomfortable. I went to see Verity and overnight my milk stopped and I conceived our baby boy that month.
What Verity did for us was nothing short of life changing and we cannot thank her enough!!!” Laura Ward Shroff
FAQ: Is reflexology painful?
Reflexology should not be painful. Pressure is always adapted to comfort levels, and sessions are designed to feel supportive and relaxing. If anything feels uncomfortable, adjustments are made immediately. It’s like a soothing massage on your feet and sometimes your ankles and lower leg area.
FAQ: Do I need to believe in reflexology for it to work?
No, reflexology does not rely on belief. Many people simply experience it as a deeply relaxing therapy that supports stress reduction and emotional wellbeing, regardless of prior expectations.
