What is Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage?

Most people have heard of the lymphatic system, but aren't always sure what it does. The lymphatic system is an important part of your immune system. It helps remove excess fluid, waste products and cellular debris from the body's tissues while supporting healthy immune function.

Unlike the circulatory system, the lymphatic system doesn't have a pump like the heart. Instead, lymph moves through the body using muscle movement, breathing and normal body function.

Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage (RLD) uses gentle stimulation of specific reflex points on the feet. The treatment is designed to encourage the body's natural lymphatic flow and may help reduce swelling, improve comfort and support overall wellbeing.

Who may benefit from Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage?

Reflexology Lymph Drainage can be used to treat many conditions, however it’s extremely effective at reducing the swelling of those affected by either primary of secondary lymphedema following the treatment of breast cancer and works in a similar way to lymphatic drainageassage.

RLD maybe used to treat the following conditions:

With a treatment room in Wokingham and easily accessible from Crowthorne, Finchampstead, Reading, Caversham, Fleet, Sandhurst, Arborfield, Woodley, Twyford, Shinfield, Eversley, Binfield, Bracknell, Windsor and Ascot.

What happens during treatment and is there any evidence?

During your appointment you'll remain fully clothed except for removing your shoes and socks. The treatment is gentle and deeply relaxing, using light rhythmic techniques rather than firm massage pressure. Many clients describe feeling calm, lighter and deeply relaxed afterwards.

Reflexology Lymphatic Drainage is a recognised reflexology technique developed specifically to support lymphatic drainage. Research into RLD is still developing, however early studies and clinical experience suggest it may help reduce swelling and improve quality of life for some people, particularly those living with lymphoedema. RLD should be viewed as a complementary therapy and is not intended to replace medical treatment or advice.
